Proposal For Summer Exhibition

As we are in a current lockdown situation and not sure what the next few weeks are going to hold, I want to base my exhibition on an idea of Frozen in Time. I have already had a play at home with the idea . I have  managed to get some photographs out in town during the lockdown period showing how empty on some occasions the town has been and people social distancing .

I have experimented with ice. Placing objects in water freezing them  and then photographing them. Its hasn‘t been easy as you need to be sorted before you start as the ice melts quite quickly and the objects can fall out.

I bought some very small people as used for railway set ups etc and have used these placing in the water and then when frozen placed another figure on the ice added more water and refrozen  so when you look at them they are in isolation and frozen in time.

I also have a couple of watch faces which I need to redo as they are not distinct enough .

With the local images I thought that I could encapsulate them and then freeze them into block of ice .

I have also frozen some money into ice blocks again same theme.

I would like to get images of keyworkers and had thought of contacting the Care homes down the road from me here in Primley but they had a couple of deaths from the virus this week so possibly not a good time to speak to them. I was hoping to take shots during their break as they all tend to stand outside possible for a quick ciggy or similar and of course at an appropriate distance.

I would also like to get photos from friends and families around the world hopefully showing what they are doing with their time and what lockdown is like in those countries . That is if they will play ball of course.

We have family in Switzerland ,Australia, America, Canada friends in France  and students I Italy, Minorca and Hungary .

I have also set up a new Facebook page for my photography, which hopefully I can use as a visual diary, although I have already put a few photo’s up and started to invite people to view it.

I think there is much scope with this idea and hopefully as we live through, we will not be in the same position ever again.

I can also use this s a base to get people to view our website for the Exhibition along with other Facebook sites including Sheclicks the  ladies only FB page for photographers .This has over 6000 members, that’s if admin are ok with the website being  shown there ,

Twitter, LinkedIn ,The Artisan Gallery Torquay who  have   another base in the Main Street in Torquay now.

There is also a new paper out in Torbay with Jim Parker involved the last editor of the Herald Express, however I am not sure if that is running at the moment, whilst I suppose it might be digital at the present time although it was in paper format.

Frozen in Time

I am hoping that my audience will resonate with this  subject as this is all based on the Covid 19 Pandemic which has spread across the Globe and lightening speed. Whole  communities  everywhere have been in lockdown with some people confined to quarters since the beginning . This is why I have called it Frozen in Time as  life as we know it has ground to a holt, and even now  we are not sure when life will return to some sort of normality, without Social Distancing, children  to meet friends and return  to school, exams shelved in favour of course work  results over the last year. Coming to terms with the people who have passed away, including those who have worked so hard to keep  us safe, all keyworkers  in work wherever they are. There are very few amongst us and then over 100 years old who will remember an outbreak quite like this before
