Natural History Museum

Huge Sequoia tree from

California cut across its width . The labeling with it was to show the time line and how old this particular tree cross section was .

The visit to the Natural History Museum on the afternoon of the 6th of November. Although I was looking forward to the visit as it is many years since I went there last, I found it tiring. As we had already walked a fair  way in the morning, but I think it was mentally tiring, there were lot of people there  and loads of children, very noisy and perhaps I just felt overwhelmed by it  all. I sat for a while and looked through my photo's from the morning took a few of the beautiful curves  of the building and the skeleton of the Blue Whale and then decided as I had time of my hands I would visit the V&A museum next door before we regrouped to go onto our next  venue.

The building itself is very tall and big as can be seen from the skeleton of the Blue Whale which hangs  from the ceiling and confronts you as you walk into the museum  there are other rooms which branch off from this main atrium. I felt by the time I got here it was just too much for me and the general noise  overwhelming that I decided that I would go and explore the V&A museum next door. There is good natural light  from the skylights in the roof but as I didn't go very far into the building so I can't guess what the rest of the building was like or how  the exhibits were shown .

The NH museum is a magnet for children and  their parents school trips and draws people from all over the world  but  I really didn't explore too far. I think had it been our 1st visit rather than after the Design Museum that I might have been in a better frame of mind to explore it.

There was an Photography Exhibition that I would have liked to seen but was quite an expensive extra.

It is a worth while visit  for everyone with more than enough toi keep you interested paticulary families .
